Can someone explain what "UL Listed" and "FM Approved" requirement for valves?

UL, FM, and CSA approved valves(*ball valve*) are tested by these agencies and certified as meeting a specific standard.  Typically for gas applications.  You have to look carefully at the standard that the valves are claimed to meet and ensure the standard is applicable to your situation.
