Valve Body CF 8M - MTC SS 316.
A Butterfly Valve Body should be CF-8M and it is marked as same. But the MTC read Body as SS 316 and no mention of CF8M
Even though SS 316 is Cast equivalent, Cr is of range 16-18 where as (CF-8M) range 18-21.
Could anybody suggest whether this MTC acceptable ?
Define the requirements and the valve properties. If the piping specification stated CF-8M does it also permit type 316 stainless steel cast valves? Is the body cast or forged? Is a forged body required or is a cast body acceptable? What was stated in the inquiry; and the quotation? If cast is a helium leak test required?
What were the requirements for inspection documents in the order? ISO 10474? EN 10204? Are you looking at the valve certificate as opposed to the inspection document for the material? The specific inspection document for the material should confirm compliance with the order; therefore, if CF-8M was ordered then the document should clearly confirm compliance. 'SS 316' is not an acceptable designation for use in an inspection document for materials.
